The owner of the largest shipping company in the world passed away early this morning in Copenhagen.
The Danish oil and shipping company, A.P. Moller - Maersk Group, was founded in 1904 by Arnold Peter Moeller with one used steamship. Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller began work with the industrial giant in 1940 and took over in 1965 at the time of his father's death. He remained active until he stepped down from his leadership position in 2003.
Today the company he and his father built is the largest in Denmark. It employs more than 100,000 people in 130 countries.
