Chuck Hagel Could Push Helium Conservation

By January 7, 2013

Follow me on:

Chuck Hagel, former Senator to the U.S. State of Nebraska, is the nominee for Secretary of Defense.

His position on the mismanagement of the U.S. National Helium Reserve makes new conservation legislation much more likely in 2013. His previous comments on the current policy and understanding of the Congressional process makes him uniquely qualified to shift our current policy to something much more sustainable.

The expansion of aluminum construction in military and institutional applications makes the supply and price of the important shielding gas a key factor in the success of these designs in the future. New construction would be certainly be hindered and repairs that meet specification could be impossible in two decades if conservation and replacements still leave the industry without a solution
